Work Rules for International Students

they can only work a maximum of 48 hours per fortnight when their course is in session and there is no limit on the number of hours an international student can work during recognized school vacations.
A work week in Australia is considered to be Monday through the following Sunday.
Although they are allowed to arrive in Australia up to 90 days before their course begins, students are not allowed to begin working until after their courses have begun.
The 20-hour-per-week limit does not extend to any work the student is required to undertake as a component of his or her studies or training. Volunteer and unpaid work, however, does count towards the 20 hours.
If an international student works more than the Australian restrictions allow, his or her visa may be cancelled.

How many hours of class per week?

Each semester is 12 weeks of classes, after around 6 weeks there is the mid semester study holiday with no classes.
This is not meant to be a holiday so you can actually go on holiday for around 2 weeks, it is there so you can catch up on study and your assignments.
You are meant to do university work during that time.
At the end of the study holiday classes start again for around another 6 weeks.
This makes up the 12 weeks of classes. After that you have exams.
Exams have around 3 weeks allocated for them and your exams could fall any time within those 3 weeks.
Once exams are over your semester is done and you have to wait for the results.
The actual numbers I have listed do vary a bit depending on the university, I just used those numbers as examples.
A pass mark on a subject/paper is 50% or 49.99 exactly.
However, even if you get that you can still fail as you are also required to complete all assessments/assignments.
If you fail to complete even 1 assessment/assignment even if you score over 50% overall with the other assessments/assignments you will still fail that paper/subject.
A “C” is a pass but only just as pass, a “D” is a fail.
However, a full-time undergraduate student might expect to attend around 12-15 hours of classes per week, while a postgraduate student might have fewer hours of class time due to more independent study and research requirements.
It’s important to note that these are general estimates and actual class schedules can vary based on the specific courses and programs.
