There are two major updates for students in Canada that you need to know. Both of these updates are important, so letโs go over them in simple terms.

As of November 8, 2024, if you want to change your college or university in Canada, you must apply for a new study permit. Before this, you could simply update your details on the online portal after changing institutions, but now thatโs no longer allowed.
If you want to switch your college or university, you will need the following:
a. A new Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from the new institution.
b. A provincial attestation letter from the new program or institution.
c. A Letter of Explanation, where you explain why you want to switch colleges or programs.
Without these documents and the necessary permission, you will not be able to change your college or university. However, there are two things to keep in mind:
a. If youโre changing your course within the same institution, you donโt need to apply for a new study permit.
b. If you meet all the requirements, you can continue with your existing study permit.
This new rule is very important, so make sure to follow it closely!

The second major update is about how many hours students can work. Starting November 15, 2024, full-time students in Canada will be allowed to work 24 hours per week. Previously, the limit was 20 hours, but now you can work 4 more hours each week.
This update will help students earn more money while studying, so itโs a great opportunity. There was some confusion earlier because there was no clear date given for when this would apply, but now the date is confirmed, and you can start working 24 hours per week from November 15, 2024.
๐๐จ ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐๐ญ ๐๐ฉ:
a. You need a new study permit to change your college or university in Canada.
b. No more switching from one private college to another without applying for a new study permit.
c. You can now work 24 hours per week starting from November 15, 2024.
d. Make sure to share this blog with other students so they know about these updates. Following these rules will help you stay on track with your studies and work in Canada.
