The Australia Regional Occupation List is one of the lists used by the Australian government to regulate skilled migration. The Medium- and Long-Term Strategic Skills List and the Short-Term Skilled Occupation List are two further lists. Unlike other lists that concentrate on different industries and employment categories, the Australia Regional Occupation List only contains jobs that are necessary in regional areas. Australia’s regional areas are those that are not part of the country’s main cities, such as Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. The Australian government wants to attract qualified professionals to these regions inorder to boost economic development and solve the particular problems that regional towns confront, such as slower economic development and lower population densities.
